Keyboard Percussion

From beginner to advanced soloist, the experience at NCSP for the keyboard percussionist follows the same achievement based skill development pathway unique to all the instructional tracks at the school. Two mallet and multiple mallet instruction prepares the student to achieve excellence in performance at each of the graded learning levels.
A mixture of individual, personalized, instruction employing graded exercises, etudes, and solo works is combined with recordings and videos of professional artists to provide skill development on all of the keyboard percussion instruments while also experiencing varied musical styles.
As the student progresses through the course of study they will become familiar with two mallet literature at each level as well as multiple-mallet works employing varied grip and motion techniques including the basic-V, Musser, Burton, and Stevens methods along with newer hybrid techniques such as those developed by Ney Rosauro and Theodor Milkov.
